BENCHMARKING
SUMMARY
Adapted
from Quality Management by Goetsch and Davis, chapter 20
- Comparing organizations
operations/processes with best-in-class performers
- Objective: Major performance
improvement; such as to become the best-in-class performer
- Focus on processes and
practices, not products
- Between consenting
organizations
- Partners frequently from
different industries
- Component of total quality
- Must be carried out in an
organized, planned manner; approval & participation of upper management
- Teams must include the people
who operate processes
- Not restricted with the
industry, but with the best-in-class performers
- First, used own processes
should be understood carefully
- It is dynamic, a never-ending
process, should be enhanced and continued by the Kazien
- Management has the key role;
after all they will provide the funds and authorize the people
- Goal is to become
best-in-class, not simply improve.
- And then surpass the
best-in-class performer!
