General
This open course contains material of online education of Spring 2020-2021 class.
The course is composed of 14 weeks.
The material contains course presentations in two formats, ppsx and PDF with identical content. There are two lecture meetings which are recorded. These are also available on YouTube.
Mechanics is a physical science that deals with the behavior (motion and/or deformation) of matter under the action of forces.
Dynamics deals with the motion of particles (the bodies of negligible size) and rigid bodies (the bodies whose shape change is negligible under the applied forces).
Dynamics has two branches,
- Kinematics deals with the motion without reference to the forces that cause the motion or that are due to the motion.
- Kinetics deals with force and motion relationships.
This course uses textbook Dynamics by Meriam and Kraige.
The course content is:
Chapter 1 Introduction
Chapter 2 Kinematics of Particles
Chapter 3 Kinetics of Particles
Chapter 5 Plane Kinematics of Rigid Bodies
Chapter 4 Kinetics of Systems of Particles (4/1 to 4/5 only)
Appendix B Mass Moments of Inertia
Chapter 6 Plane Kinetics of Rigid Bodies
